From Vision to Reality
In 2007, I was asked a simple but piercing question: “Why are you investing time and money into 'EV' domains?” At the time, the world of domains was still evolving, and the concept of "EV" wasn’t as ubiquitous as it is today. I was convinced that "EV" domains held massive untapped potential, but to many, it seemed like a risky investment. Fast forward to today, and "EV" is everywhere—on everyone's lips, in conversations about Electric Vehicles (EVs), Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and even in new technologies like Embedded Vision (EV).
Back in 2007, my domain strategy was rooted in foresight, seeing beyond the current trends and identifying what was coming next. I believed that the future of transportation, technology, and energy would be closely tied to "EV" in one way or another. To give you an idea, I was negotiating the sale of EVP*.com, a prime domain, with the legal team of the "Domain King," a well-known figure in the domain world. I asked Howard, the lawyer, to reach out to the Domain King and pitch my vision. In that meeting, while I was sitting in Howard's office, he made the call to Rick. The response was quick and decisive: "Thanks, but no thanks." It was a pass. Little did anyone know, "EV" would become a central part of so many industries.
Fast-forward to today:
Even the domain I sold, EVdoesIt.com, went on to serve an entirely different sector—European Vision—a company in the vision technology industry.
Through all this, it became clear: EV is no longer just about vehicles. It’s an acronym representing innovation across industries, from air cargo delivery to AI-powered platforms, clean energy, and even political action committees (like the Electric Vehicle Political Action Committee, or EVPAC, supporting the future of sustainable energy initiatives).
I realized that there is an "EV" domain for almost every vision. Whether it's a futuristic aviation company like Electric Vertical Cargo Air Delivery (EVCAD), a cutting-edge tech startup working on Embedded Vision Platform as a Service (EVPaaS), or a domain representing the political momentum of the EV movement (EVPAC), there's no shortage of potential applications for "EV."
So, what's your vision for the future? What does your "EV" represent?
I’m proud of my portfolio of EV domains, each a piece of what I see as a wave of innovation that’s only just begun. If you're interested in joining me on this journey and discovering the perfect "EV" domain for your vision, take a look at my portfolio. The future is electric—and it's just getting started.
